HELP ME! I HAVE A TEENAGER!! THE NITTY GRITTY GUIDE TO PARENTAL SANITY P0RESENTATION BY ANNIE DRAKE:
Please join us on Friday, April 1st for an important presentation by a family counselor and author Annie Drake in the Lecture Hall from 9:00AM -10:30AM.  Annie will have her book on sale for $15 if you would like to purchase one for a reference as you navigate through the teenage years with your child.  She will talk about social media, how sleep deprivation affects your teen’s behavior and academic performance, how to talk to your teen and relate to their world, how to be a parent and not just a friend.  Certainly our children need us to be loving and present in their lives but they also need boundaries, rules, and expectations.  Annie will help answer some of these difficult questions that you might have to help you become closer to your teen. Please join us for a great presentation and discussion the first day of April! THAT’S NO JOKE!

PTA NEWS:
Go GREEN last Friday was another great event for the kids with lots of music, dancing, activities and a wonderful sunny day for the students to get outside and have some fun.  Thanks to those volunteers who came and helped man the event.  PTA is proud to continue to support this event and the associated Spirit Sticks the kids receive for achieving Go GREEN.
Healthy Living Celebration:
This Saturday from noon to 3p is the Healthy Living Celebration at Purple Sage Elementary. Bring the family out for rock wall climbing, mechanical bull, dancing, board breaking contest, yoga, obstacle course, facials, massages, cross fit, sports drills, medical screenings, reflexology, and healthy cooking demonstrations.  Bring your bike for a free safety check. An ADVENTURE RUN begins at 12:30 with prizes for the top finishers.  Come and have some healthy fun this weekend!
Spirit Sticks:
Ask your student if they love their spirit sticks collection and if they want to be able to buy more?  If the answer is YES, then let them know that we will be selling them at the PTA funded school dance to be held on April 1st.  This will be the start of selling through the Concessions Stand and will continue next year at all home games when the Concessions Stand is open.

April 1st PTA Dance:
Put the date on your calendar for the PTA School Dance to be held on April 1st for 6th, 7th and 8th Grades.  The theme is yet to be decided but we have booked the DJ and the Photo Booth and we are planning another great night for all our students to enjoy!  Stay tuned for more details!

March General PTA Meeting:
The General PTA Meeting was held this morning (Friday, March 4th) and the Nominating Committee for the PTA Board for 2016/17 school year was formed.  This committee will be calling for nominations over the next few weeks for Elections to take place in May 2016.  If you have any interest in helping out and holding a Board Position on PTA for the next school year, please keep an eye out for when the call for nominations starts and send your name to the Committee.  PTA is a fulfilling and much appreciated volunteer activity and the school needs you!

BOXTOPS:
Soaring with BOXTOPS Contest ended on Feb 26 and we want to thank ALL the people who clipped boxtops and the parents who did the Sams Club promotion.  We were able to raise almost 400.00 and there were 24 sweet treat cup winners.   The overall winners were Melissa Rangel in Grade 6, Justin Gilbert in Grade 7 who was also the overall winner w 360 boxtops & Ryan Heaps in Grade 8.  Way to raise the bar hornets – this year we brought the most boxtops.
THE LABELS for EDUCATION PROGRAM is coming to an END so Hopewell will no longer be collecting the labels.  We have accumulated over 13,000 points which we will use to buy basketballs & footballs & soccer balls for the kids to use during free time at lunch.  We will also use some of the points to purchase art supplies like markers or colored pencils.
 TYSON LABELS:
We are in need of Tyson Labels and need 36 more.  You need a total of 100 labels before you can turn them in and be processed.  If you could PLEASE just drop them off in the BOXTOPS bin in the front office or have them place them in the PTA’s box – labeled Denise Rangel.
 SHOPAROO:
With just 70 supporters we are continuing to raise money for Hopewell.  This free phone app is so easy to do.  Just snap those receipts & Shoparoo does the rest & Hopewell reaps the benefits.  We are currently at just under 90,000 Roo points which is $180.00   If we got 10 more supporters we could quickly raise that amount to 100,000 Roo points in no time.  Questions please feel free to email DRangel01@hotmail.com
