6th GRADE MOVIE NIGHT RE-CAP:
It was an incredible turnout for last Friday night’s 6th grade WEB sponsored movie lock-in night here at Hopewell MS. The overwhelming turnout was certainly a challenge for the WEB leaders and sponsors but with 2/3 of the 6th grade class showing, it was a huge success! Managing that many 6th graders for a movie night kept everyone on their toes but the students hopefully had a good time hanging out with their friends. We will make a few changes for next year’s event to make it an even better one for our 6th graders and WEB leaders. Thanks, 6th grade parents for your support.
I AM THAT GIRL CLUB MEETING TUESDAY, DECEMBER 1ST FROM 3:30-4:30pm IN THE LECTURE HALL:
This all girls club at Hopewell was inspired by our guest speaker Alexis Jones who spoke to our girls last year helping our young girls empower themselves to gain confidence in themselves and ignore the media who defines what beauty is. Please check out Twitter and these two websites for more information on Alexis Jones and her mission for our girls: Twitter@ iamthatgirl,www.alexisjones.com or www.iamthatgirl.com for more information on this powerful movement. The IMTG club will an agenda each meeting and will focus on a different social, academic or emotional challenge facing our girls today. They will discuss that topic under the supervision of our teacher sponsor, Monica Baldini to help them navigate through adolescence with a some support from their peers. You may email Mrs. Baldini at: monica_baldini@roundrockisd. org for any additional questions regarding this club.
TI 83 CALCULATOR APP AVAILABLE FOR ANDROID AND APPLE SMART PHONES:
Check out these apps for both the Android and iPhone smart phones that have the same capabilities that the TI 83 calculators needed for Algebra and Geometry have. The Android app called Wabbitemu is free while the iPhone app is $5.99 called GrafNCalc83. It’s a HUGE savings from the cost of the actual calculator. Thank you Kristina Moyer our Algebra and Geometry teacher for giving us this great tip!
NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY INDUCTION FOR CURRENT HOPEWELL 8TH GRADERS:
The NJHS induction ceremony for our current 8th graders will be held at 7PM on Tuesday, December 1st at 7PM in the cafeteria. NJHS qualifying students will be gathering at 6:30PM in the Lecture Hall. ALL parents and guests will be seated in the cafeteria beginning at 6:30PM. Thank you Kelsey Roach, 8th grade Language Arts teacher and new NJHS Sponsor for her hard work getting this important program organized and reset for this school year. This is a very special event for these deserving students. Later in the spring, we will have another induction for our current 7th graders for the following school year.
PTA NEWS:
Kona Ice came to school last Friday and made kids happy!
Even though it was a cold day, those kids who bought from Kona Ice enjoyed this special treat. PTA made a small commission from the sales which will go towards our funding programs and activities at school. Thank you!
Go G.R.E.E.N
This Friday during Advisory and Lunch kids will be celebrating Go G.R.E.E.N funded and supported by the PTA. This event is for those kids who are demonstrating the following attributes each and every day:
G: Giving your best
R: Respectful
E: Expectations are high
E: Eager to learn
N: New start each day
These events are for all eligible students so it's a great way for PTA to give back to the school as every child has the opportunity to earn Go G.R.E.E.N.
Ask your child what happened today and if they had fun!

Is Your Child on the Basketball Team?
Concessions are offered at the Girls and Boys Basketball games so that
children and parents can snack or even dine during the busy evening
schedule. We need volunteers to help work shifts during our opening hours
and sell products. Shifts can be as little as 30 minutes through to the
duration of a game.
If you have a child playing A Team you could cover the shift while B Team
is playing and then still watch your child's team game. This would be a
great help to Concessions and a great way to be a team player and support
the team and Hopewell Middle School as a whole.
