Our 6th Grade Game Night was a great success and all 6th grade attendees seemed to have a great time.  Our Hopewell PTA moms and dads helped with games, supervision and concessions and provided a great opportunity for our 6th graders to connect to Hopewell school life and build pride in their school.  We had about 60 sixth graders attend and about 40 then went to the boys’ basketball game and watched both the A and the B teams beat CD Fulkes!  A Special thanks to Amy Hinds our PTA President for organizing it and for making it happen and to Mr. Meave for helping out with the successful event.

Hopewell and Stony Point Transition Timeline events for your calendars:
February 3rd: Middle School 101 evening event for 5th graders and their parents.  6:30-8:00 in the Hopewell Cafeteria and commons area.
February 11th: Future Tiger Night at Stony Point HS for 8th graders. See SPHS website for details
February 17th: Hopewell parent night for current 6th and 7th graders.  Information on choice sheets, course selections, and electives will be given in the Hopewell cafeteria and commons area.
February 24th: ALL SIGNED choice sheets are due back for 6-8 graders.

No Homework will be assigned on Friday, January 16th for the three day weekend and no tests or quizzes will be given on Tuesday, January 20th
Lastly, in memory of our former Hopewell Hornet, Peyton James, who passed away this fall, his mom has started a wonderful and powerful initiative named “Kindness Matters.” This Friday, January 16th is Kindness Matters Day in memory of Peyton.  The purpose of the Kindness Matters Day is to cover the internet with stories of kindness.  There are two aspects to Kindness Matters Day.  First, mom is asking everyone to do an act of kindness then take a selfie, post it on one of the Kindness Matters Social Media sites and share that story of kindness.  If you want to wear a Kindness Matters t-shirt or bracelet or orange shirt – even better!  Secondly, that same evening, Friday, January 16th mom is hosting a Kindness Matters Day Celebration on the square in downtown Georgetown.  There will be a kindness pledge to sign, free coffee and cookies with be served, and a group picture at 6:15PM.  Georgetown’s Mayor Ross will also be there to welcome everyone.  Wear your Kindness Matters t-shirt if you have one or an orange shirt but no matter what, everyone of course is welcome to attend.  This event and effort would no doubt put a smile on Peyton’s face!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
Enjoy the warm weather!
