VETERANS DAY VIDEO: COPY THE LINK TO YOUR BROWSER THEN WATCH OUR INCREDIBLE ASSEMBLYhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-V2Zf7OeZo
A VERY special thank you to our incredible Hopewell Student Council for putting on one of the best Veterans Day Assemblies I have ever witnessed or have been a part of.  Ms. Alvarez and Mrs. McCray are our Student Council sponsors and their leadership with this event contributed greatly to this success.  Our student council officers spoke and introduced our guest speaker Captain George C. Strable Jr., Commander 249th Transportation C Company 36th Infantry Division US Army.  Our band, orchestra, choir and dance programs all performed patriotic pieces and our student body was an amazing audience.  Putting together 1,000 middle school students in one space requiring attentive, respectful engagement can be a risky venture.  However, we taught and stated our expectations for assembly behavior beforehand, secured a great program and speaker, and our students totally rose to the occasion.  We were all very proud of them and we reinforced that once they returned back to their classrooms.  Middle school students are never perfect souls and are always pushing boundaries in order to help them find and understand themselves.  That’s certainly normal middle school student behavior and we have that in perfect perspective as teachers and administrators at Hopewell MS.  Today, they proved that there is hope for our future with this terrific, diverse, intelligent, and spunky student body!  I believe that our Hornets learned a great deal of what it means to be an American on Veterans Day.

6th GRADE WEB MOVIE LOCK IN FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13TH FROM 7-10 PM
This Friday night November 13th, we will have an incredible event for our 6th graders to help them become more connected to Hopewell school life.  As you know, we will be having a Movie Lock In beginning at 7 PM and ending at 10 PM for our 6th graders led by our 8th_ grade WEB leaders and teacher sponsors.  The event will include some fun team building games along with a movie and popcorn!  The Concession stand will be open for business to please send money with your child to the Movie Lock In. Admission is free and students will be required to have their school ID to get in the door!  Please make sure that your children are picked up at 10 PM.  Thanks!

10 TRUTHS MIDDLE SCHOOLERS SHOULD KNOW:
Copy the link below to your browser and read an interesting article on the middle school aged student.  Great stuff.  One of our PTA members sent this to me and is certainly worth reading.

CATCH NIGHT AT HOPEWELL
A very special thank you to Sandra Logston and Gilberto Herrera for their hard work putting together our annual Hopewell CATCH Family Fitness information night tonight. This awesome family event will be tonight Thursday, November 12th from 5:30-7:00 PM in the Gym, Cafeteria, and Commons Areas.  The event will promote fitness, health and nutrition for our Hopewell students, parents and community.  EVERYONE is invited to CATCH! We will have reps from a variety of organizations such as HEB, Round Rock Express, Stony Point Athletics, RRISD Food Service to name a few.  It will be a GREAT time for the whole family and to also support our PE department’s effort to keep our kids healthy.  There will be a drawing for some cool prizes in the cafeteria at 7 PM.  Hope to see you there!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
