END OF 2nd SIX WEEKS GRADING PERIOD IS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6th:
Parents, please check with your child THIS weekend to make sure that they have turned in ALL outstanding work, have taken any re-tests or make up tests due to absences, and have completed all projects and have turned them in.  Double check their backpacks and help remind them to get this work turned in and any tests or quizzes completed prior to the end of the six weeks grading period.  If any work is missing in the grade book then they need to probably either find it or re-do it and turn it in.  Better to be safe than sorry when report cards go out.
STONY POINT TIGER DAY FOR ALL 8TH GRADERS IS MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2nd:
This RRISD 8th -9th grade transition program will be this Monday, November 2nd.  We are excited to host each of the five High School Academies, teachers and students who will be talking with our students about what each Academy is, courses that are involved, and what the expectations are for them.  Additionally, there will be representatives for the AVID, ROTC and International Bachelorette programs as well.  Students will rotate among the Academies and programs depending on their current levels of interest and will gather information as they begin their middle school to high school transition.  Later on next semester, the Stony Point HS counselors will be coming over to spend time in classrooms talking course selection, four year plans, and other information regarding this transition to high school.  We will also be offering in the spring a Stony Point HS Parent Night that will coincide with the HS counselor’s visit and presentation.  More info on that coming early second semester.
The Five Academy options that your child will have to choose one from at Stony Point HS and choose classes that fall under each academy are:
  1. Business and Industry
  2. Health Science
  3. Public Service
  4. Science and Technology
  5. Visual and Performing Arts
CATCH (Coordinated Approach To Child Health) Night @ Hopewell MS

parents and community.  EVERYONE is invited to CATCH! We will have reps from a variety of organizations such as HEB, Round Rock Express, Stony Point Athletics, RRISD Food Service to name a few.  It will be a GREAT time for the whole family and to also support our PE department’s effort to keep our kids healthy.  There will be a drawing for some cool prizes in the cafeteria at 7PM.  Mark your calendars for this awesome event!  Please see attached flyer to this Waggoner’s Word.  CATCH Flyer (1) (1) (1).docx

HMS Spirit Wear &  Hoodies
Hopewell Hornet Hoodies are now available and priced at $25.00.!!  Get yours before they are sold out!  To order via delivery to your child:  complete the attached order form and return the form and payment to your student’s advisory teacher. The PTA will fulfill your order quickly!
To purchase direct: we will be at the School CATCH night on November 12th to sell spirit wear. Hoodies will be available for sale at upcoming basketball games and also in the front office at school.

Do You Have a Basketball Player?
Basketball sign-ups for Concessions will be coming soon.  Concessions are offered at the games by our Concessions Stand so that children and parents can snack or even dine during the busy evening schedule.  We need volunteers to help work shifts during our opening hours and sell products.  Shifts can be as little as 30 minutes through to the duration of a game.
If you have a child playing A Team you could cover the shift while B Team is playing and then still watch your child's team game.  This would be a great help to Concessions and a great way to be a team player and support the team and Hopewell School as a whole.  Thanks for Supporting the HMS PTA. Watch this space for future fundraising events to help out the school and PTA.

Hopewell’s Partners in PE class is the best!
This is a reverse inclusion class.  During this time eighth grade regular education students “partners” come, and are role models, peer mentors, and friends with our FAC students.  This class participates in many sport units such as bowling, volleyball, fitness activities, basketball, but most of all they love to dance!
In addition, they are involved in Special Olympics as athletes and volunteers.  One of the upcoming events the students will be competing in is the Area 13 Bowling Competition.  This will be held in Austin November 6th – 8th

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Stay dry!
