Calendar of Events for the Week of November 9th- 13th:
Monday, November 9th – Friday, November 13th: BOOK FAIR in the Library
Wednesday, November 11th: Veterans Day Assembly in the Gym 8:25 AM – 9:05 AM
Thursday, November 12th-Saturday, November 14th: Region Orchestra Auditions/Clinic
Thursday, November 12th: CATCH NIGHT 5:30-7:30 PM in the Gym, Cafeteria and Commons Areas
Friday, November 13th: WEB 6th Grade Lock In and Movie Night 7-10PM

VETERANS DAY ASSEMBLY NOVEMBER 11th – ALL ARE INVITED – MARK YOUR CALENDAR
You all are invited along with any family members that are Veterans of our US military from any past war to our 2nd Annual Veterans Day Assembly on Veterans Day, November 11th from 8:25-9:05 AM in our gym.  We would be absolutely honored to have you and any Vets there at this event.  Our wonderful Student Council will be hosting the Veterans Day Assembly and Ann-Marie Jardine our Student Council President will be introducing our guest speaker, Captain George C. Strable Jr., Commander 249th Transportation C Company 36th Infantry Division.  We will also be honoring several of our Hopewell MS staff members that are also Veterans.  Additionally, our fine arts programs will be performing patriotic pieces. 

CATCH (Coordinated Approach To Child Health) Night @ Hopewell MS:
This awesome family event will be on Thursday, November 12th from 5:30-7:00 PM in the Gym, Cafeteria, and Commons Areas.  The event will promote fitness, health, and nutrition for our Hopewell students, parents, and community.  EVERYONE is invited to CATCH! We will have reps from a variety of organizations such as HEB, Round Rock Express, Stony Point Athletics, RRISD Food Service to name a few.  It will be a GREAT time for the whole family and to also support our PE department’s effort to keep our kids healthy.  There will be a drawing for some cool prizes in the cafeteria at 7 PM.  Hope to see you there!


STONY POINT HS INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB) PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT
The SPHS IB club will be hosting an information night for parents next Tuesday, November 10th at 6:30PM in the Lecture Theater.  A flyer of information is also attached to this Waggoner’s Word newsletter.  If you are considering the IB program for your child next year as a 9th grader and would like some information on the program, this would be a great meeting to attend.  If you have any questions on IB at SPHS, please email Andi Brosche at: andi_brosche@roundrockisd.org


WEB 6th GRADE LOCK IN & MOVIE NIGHT:
Next Friday night, we will have a great event for our 6th graders to get them more connected to Hopewell school life.  We will be having a lock in beginning at 7PM and ending at 10PM for our 6th graders led by our 8th grade WEB leaders and teacher sponsors.  The event will include some fun team building games along with a movie and popcorn!  Admission is free and students will be required to have their school ID to get in the door!  Please make sure that your children are picked up at 10PM.  Thanks!
****6th Graders be sure to bring some monies for concessions.  The event is free but the concession stand will be open with all kinds of snacks to make the movie awesome!


STONY POINT HS INTERNATIONAL BACHELORIETTE (IB) PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT

ROUND ROCK AREA SERVING CENTER’S ANNUAL COMMUNITY-WIDE FOOD DRIVE:
The Round Rock Area Serving Center is having their annual community-wide food drive from November 2nd through next Friday, November 13th.   A box has been placed in the Hopewell main office for you or your Hornet to drop off canned or packaged non-perishable food items.  If you have any questions, please call Lori Scott at: 512-244-2431.  Thanks for contributing to this great cause!

REGION CHOIR AND DISTRICT HONOR BAND AUDITION RESULTS:
Congratulations to the following Hopewell MS students for their recognition in both Choir and Band competitions this past month:

The following students were awarded District recognition, scoring among the top players on their instrument.  They will advance to a second round of competition this weekend for the opportunity to play in the Region Honor Band this December:

Several of our Hopewell MS Choir students participated in the Region Choir competition this past weekend.  ALL HMS students did a great job representing our school at the event and the following placed and made the Region Choir that will be performing a concert this Saturday afternoon at Georgetown HS at 4PM:

BOOK FAIR ALL NEXT WEEK IN THE LIBRARY:
Next week the Hopewell library will be having a book fair.  This year we will have a teacher wish list to help get books for their classrooms.  There are also a variety of books that will be on sale for the students.  We will be open late on Thursday during the CATCH fitness night.  Please send students with passes throughout next week and let me know if you would like to bring your entire class. Thanks for your support!

TAKE A DAY AND HAVE LUNCH WITH YOUR HORNET!
I wanted you ALL to know that you as parents ARE ALL welcome here at Hopewell ANYTIME!!  If your schedule permits, please take some time and come up to school during your child’s lunchtime, bring them a fun lunch and have lunch with them in the cafeteria.  Many parents do that every week but I just wanted to make sure that you all knew that was ok to do.

Kona Ice will be at Hopewell on Friday, November 13th at 3:30 p.m. Remember to bring some money and treat yourself or a friend to a refreshing Kona Ice!

Hopewell Hornet Hoodies are now available!!  They are $25.00. Get yours before they are sold out!  Please complete the attached order form and return the form and payment to your student’s advisory teacher. The PTA will fulfill your order quickly!
