HOPEWELL HONOR BAND PERFORMED IN DALLAS FRIDAY, APRIL 15TH:
The Hopewell Honor Band under the Direction of Kevin Crawford and Sharon Walker performed Friday in Dallas at the Meyerson Symphony Center.  They were privileged to learn from the Education Director for the Dallas Symphony at a clinic he gave prior to their performance. I asked several of the students what they thought of that clinic and little tidbits of information and they ALL said the advice and critique of their band was very helpful.  The band took the massive stage at2:00PM and performed three of their pieces.  I can’t tell you how beautiful and crisp they sounded in the exquisite facility.  What a terrific experience for our young blooming musicians to have that opportunity to learn and perform at one of the finest facilities around.  They made a great memory Friday and so did the parent chaperones and our directors.

HOPEWELL MS STUDENT HONORED BY THE NATIONAL SOCIETY DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION:
On Saturday, April 9th, the Daniel Coleman Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution announced Hopewell 8th grade student, Kayley Brown, as the chapter winner of this year's American History Essay Contest. She researched the Stamp Act and wrote an essay titled "A Colonial Family's Reaction to the Stamp Act." They recognized her at their monthly meeting and awarded her a certificate. Kayley currently serves as chapter president of Hopewell's Junior Historians club.

ELECTIONS FOR PTA
WE NEED YOU! Hopewell PTA has elections coming up in May to elect the Executive Board for our PTA.  We need nominations for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer!

Do you love to represent and promote?  You could be President, support and honor our school within the community and school environment, maintain our existing programs and liaise with the Principal and the Board to share new and exciting ideas.  Are you creative as well as organized?  Have a few hours a week to spare?  WE NEED You!

Could you support the President in their role, follow up on tasks assigned to you in a timely manner, maybe you're interested in changing up the Spirit wear at school?  Or supporting someone with Teacher Appreciation?  WE NEED YOU!

Are you an attention to detail person?  Then maybe Secretary is for you, attend a meeting once a month and take the minutes, type them up and circulate them to all Board Members.  Take them manually or bring a laptop and type away during the meeting - it's up to you but WE NEED YOU!

Good with money, happy to 'cook the books' (in an honest way of course)?  Oversee all spending on the PTA (while working within a pre-set budget) and report on our financial situation monthly, then WE NEED YOU!

Please email Kelly at
hopeandfaith2@msn.com or Joanne at joanne@georgesons.net for more information or just to ask us a question and remember WE NEED YOU!

LABELS FOR EDUCATION PROGRAM & BOXTOPS
As you may have heard – the Labels for Education program is coming to a close …. The GOOD NEWS is we were able to accumulate over 12,000 points which we used to purchase 3 GIANT BOXES of colored markers for the art teachers (a BOX for each grade level) & 3 boxes of 8 regulation size balls (2 football, 2 soccer, 2 volleyball & 2 basketballs) Each grade level assistant principal will be given a BOX to be used during the FREE time at lunch hour.  This is a definite WIN-WIN – everyone gets to enjoy all your hard work of clipping and sending those labels in over the year.  THANK YOU so much for your SUPPORT!
Keep clipping those “BOXTOPS” though and save up for back to school contest in the fall and check out BTFE.com for great sweepstakes to WIN even MORE boxtops PLUS they have great coupons & recipes!!!!!
