May 6th is also our last RRISD Early Release Day.  Students will be dismissed at 1:30 so our teachers can have that last two hours of the day to plan lessons and activities for the remainder of the school year.

The RRISD Talented and Gifted (TAG) Parent Advisory Council ‘s annual survey is now live for those Hopewell parents of TAG students. The purpose of this survey is to help guide the work of the TAGPAC for next school year. The survey is short and should not take you more than a few minutes to complete.  Parent survey link:https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/TAGPAC_parents

Our “I Am That Girl” Club that was organized this spring as a result of our guest speaker for girls, Alexis Jones, will be traveling over to Union Hill Elementary School to read to their Kinders.   Approximately 30 Hopewell 6th-8th graders will be heading over on Tuesday, May 26th around noon and will be returning around 12:30.  This is just one community service project this girl empowerment club will be organizing and carrying out in the next couple of years.

We have Trevin Wade coming next Friday, May 8th from 8:30-9:05 to speak to all our boys about making good choices, working hard, being a positive leader, and to treat girls with respect.  He is a former Hopewell Hornet, Stony Point Tiger, attended the University of Arizona, and is now a professional football player with the New York Giants.  We are so lucky to have had the opportunity to have two quality people of great integrity and character to speak to our students at Hopewell MS.

On Monday, May 4th our Hopewell MS Teacher of the Year, Vickie Bradford (Campus Technology Instructor) will be honored at the RRISD  Teacher of the Year Reception and Banquet.  There, the RRISD Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year will be announced.   We are very proud of our Hopewell Teacher of the Year who does so much for our campus regarding technology education, helping both teachers and students with instructional technology.  She is a true asset to Hopewell MS and RRISD.

On Tuesday, May 12th, RRISD will be honoring students of Hispanic Heritage at a reception and awards ceremony.  Those students who will be receiving this prestigious award have demonstrated exceptional behavior, citizenship, and academic performance throughout the school year.  The students at Hopewell MS that will be receiving the Hispanic Heritage Award are:
6th Grade: Deyanira Castillo & Alexander Francisco
7th Grade: Aracely Arriaza & Samuel Colis
8th Grade: Anakaren Rivera & Landyn Moreno
Congratulations to these outstanding Hopewell Hornets!

Hope everyone enjoys the beautiful May weather!
