As you are probably aware by now we had to move the 8th grade Formal to NEXT FRIDAY, May 29th.  Our Student Council sponsors have been diligently working with their students preparing them for the STAAR exams and time became a factor in making this decision.  Supplies, decorations, and other dance items had not been delivered as of Monday.  I sincerely apologize to the parent community for any inconvenience and extra expense this may have caused you.  The Student Council sponsors and students want this Formal to be a great experience for all students and they felt that the only way to accomplish that goal was to move it to next Friday.  Again, apologies for any problem this may have caused you as parents.  In the future, we will make sure that this does not happen again.
Also, attached is the schedule for the last week of school events such as finals, awards assemblies, and yearbook distribution and signing.  We will be distributing yearbooks on Tuesday, June 2nd during all three lunches.  Students will sign yearbooks throughout the week no doubt but again the last day of school.
Our 8th grade boys’ basketball team whipped the faculty basketball team Thursday afternoon by three points.  The faculty were up by as much as 16 points in the third quarter but the students battled back and handed the faculty their second loss in four years.   It was a great game and the student body really seemed to enjoy the event and were ecstatic with the outcome of the game.  Well done students!  I am sure that Friday will bring some sore muscles for our great teachers who were great sports!
Our Spring Orchestra Concert was an incredible success on Tuesday evening.  Mrs. Allison Sozansky did a great job organizing the event and preparing her young musicians for their performances.  It was a great turnout and our talented kids really shined!
The I Am That Girl club members will be walking over to Union Hill Elementary on Tuesday, May 26 to read stories to Kindergarten students.  This service project is to promote the importance and enjoyment of literacy.  The girls have chosen some of their favorite picture books to share with the kindergartners.  Thank you to Ms. Milstead and Ms. Anderson at Union Hill for sharing their little ones with the girls.
Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day – 3 day weekend!
Karl
